J'ai vu le premier Yakuza Wolf le mois dernier (via le Shout Factory) et c'est vraiment chouette. Pas mal d'idées pour essayer de maintenir un dynamisme a l'image plus un Sonny Chiba assez classe (malgré un personnage pas très aimable). Et le final envoie du bois !

Les retours sur leur Pandora’s box, Loulou, chez nous, ne sont pas bons du tout.
Alors que je précommandais jusqu’ici en confiance leurs sorties (les muets, Masumura, Uchida) je vais dorénavant attendre les premiers tests…

Pour en savoir un peu plus sur ce qui a été évoqué par The Eye of Doom concernant Loulou :

At approximately the 4:30 mark, when Lulu is paying the meter man after giving him a drink, she puts some coins into the meter man's hand, to which he barely notices. Lulu does, and motions "hey, you dropped your money", still to which the meter man doesn't pay any attention.

However, I did. The change, which falls to the ground, is missing in this new restoration. It is clearly present in every other version I've seen. Especially the Criterion Collection's 2007 DVD.

This faux pas literally took me out of the film. Immediately. Since, I know the film has been digitally scrubbed and roto-scoped to try to "clean up" the blurriness of shots.

I was so amazed and questioned my own judgement, but I checked my own Criterion DVD and my old "Home Vision Cinema" VHS (which has Kino International during the film's opening credits) and clearly, you see the coins drop from the meter man's hand, and Lulu takes clear notice. Obviously, MOS (Master's of Cinema) did not.

Eureka restent tributaires du matériel disponible. Si la restauration a un souci, ils devront faire avec. Depuis quelques années, que ce soit les titres de studios US qu'ils ont sorti ou les titres HK, c'est de toute façon assez variable sauf restauration en grande pompe.
Dans le cas du Kubrick, ce sera sans aucun doute basé sur ce qui est sorti aux USA chez Kino et sur lequel je n'ai pas lu de retour indiquant des problèmes particuliers.

Bon chacun son truc et je ne nie pas que c’est une bourde, mais franchement j’ai dû regarder plusieurs fois avant de voir ce qu’il manquait… Pour moi quand le gars dit que ça l’a littéralement sorti du film c’est limite « drama queen ».
