Très intéressantes tes listes.
Bon, y'a des films que je ne classerais pas dans le "Néo-noir" ceci dit, par exemple Mulholland Drive. Mais je suppose que les contours du genre tendent à s'estomper de plus en plus pour les critiques, ce qui est dommage à mon sens. Pour moi, dans le néo-noir (en filiation directe avec le film noir), il faut absolument une composante policière/détective privé. La tonalité doit également être pessimiste, avec une idée de perte et de chute inéluctable, souvent en liaison avec une femme fatale. Dans le Lynch, par exemple, la composante policière/détective privé n'est pas du tout prégnante.

Sinon, oui, je garde un excellent souvenir de Brick, dans les films relativement récents.
Découvert aussi, cette semaine, le film de Afflek, Gone, baby gone, assez intéressant, qu'on pourrait classer dans ce genre.

Je me fends d'un petit top 15, au débotté, sans trop réfléchir.
Classement soumis à caution tant les définitions du genre sont fluctuantes...

Les Affranchis peut-il être considéré comme appartenant à cette mouvance ? Si oui, il prend direct la première place.
Et s'il est loisible de considérer le cinéma français comme pouvant en relever, alors Série Noire serait placé bien haut.

Les contours du genre sont effet pour le moins flous et la définition suggestive. Pour ma part, je m'aperçois que j'ai une définition beaucoup plus restrictive que beaucoup, y compris par rapport aux deux classements que je viens de poster ci-dessus.

The Big Lebowski, pour moi c'est clairement estampillé comédie en genre principal.
Les affranchis, je le mettrais en genre 'mafia' si tant est que ça existe, mais pas en film noir ou néo-noir.
Même Mulhollhand Drive, à mon sens, ça ne rentre pas dans les cases du genre.

En fait, pour moi, la définition est relativement simple, un néo-noir répond aux même critères que le film noir traditionnel, à la différence près qu'il est post-1960 et souvent réalisé en couleur, à quelques exceptions près (Sin City, par exemple).
La dominante policière/détective est à mon sens indispensable (ce qui n'est pas le cas du Lynch, par exemple), et la tonalité doit être… noire, avec toujours cette menace inéluctable qui père sur les épaules du héros (L'impasse, Chinatown, L.A Confidential, Blade Runner…), souvent avec un rôle important joué par une femme fatale.

Après, à chacun sa vision plus ou moins personnelle du genre.

Mais quelle est alors la définition du film noir classique ? A quels critères doit-il obéir ? Entre le Scarface de Hawks et Assurance sur la Mort de Wilder, tous deux considérés comme des classiques du genre, qu'y a-t-il en commun ? Qu'est-ce qui fait lien ?

PS : Si Blade Runner peut être considéré comme un néo-noir, alors c'est le nouveau nouveau n°1 pour moi.

Entre le Scarface de Hawks et Assurance sur la Mort de Wilder, tous deux considérés comme des classiques du genre

Scarface n'appartient pas au genre noir mais au "film de gangsters", genre suffisamment représenté ( on dit que le premier du genre fut Regeneration, de Raoul Walsh, en 1918) pour être autonome par rapport au genre noir, même si les points communs sont évidents.
Les Affranchis est un authentique "film de gangsters" et probablement le meilleur de tous avec Le Parrain.
