Il y a clairement une parenté, ainsi que pour le Cheval de fer de Ford (même si c'est un récit de colons partant vers l'ouest)... Mais curieusement, c'est à la rivière rouge que le film m'a le plus fait penser, à certains moments.
En tout cas, c'est un film qui a certainement eu une grande influence, et dont, selon le petit dossier du bluray, a connu un immense succès à sa sortie, en 1923... Le président Harding se serait même offert une projection du film...
Merci pour ce retour. J'y penserai lors de la prochaine commande US ( que je ferais quand j'aurais fini de voir les imports muets de ma précédente commande :fiou: )

Premier candidat, le retour très inspiré de Wes Anderson à l'animation avec L’île aux chiens.

Nouveau candidat et grosse claque avec L'Ange rouge de Yasuzo Masumura, magnifique et sensuel mélo sur fonde guerre sino-japonaise. En mettre en parallèle avec le Histoire d'une prostituée de Seijun Suzuki (même contexte historique avec héroïne sacrificielle et romance tragique) dont il est le pendant lumineux. Grosse découverte de l'année la filmographie de Masumura !

Zatoichi 12: Zatoichi and the Chess Expert (Kenji Misumi, 1965) 7/10 - Trois fils narratifs que le film peine à faire tenir ensemble; mais il ménage plusieurs moment de grâce, donnant une belle dimension au personnage de Zatoichi.
Trafic (Jacques Tati, 1971) 7.5/10 - Comédie de la modernité, poésie mécanique: les qualificatifs ne manquent pas pour décrire ce film, un peu en roue libre, mais très charmant.
Edge of Tomorrow (Doug Liman, 2014) 6/10 - Une idée géniale, empruntée à Groundhog Day, qui donne un actioner sympathique, où la forme vidéoludique est totalement assumée. Voire même fait partie du propos.
La chienne (Jean Renoir, 1931) 7.5/10 - Tout le film converge vers une scène anthologique, à elle seule une leçon de cinéma.
Joy (David O. Russell, 2015) 5/10 - Un film bancal, raté, boursouflé qui fait se demander - après American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook - si David O. Russell a bien réalisé The Fighter.
Dog Day Afternoon (Sidney Lumet, 1975) 8/10 - C'est bien quoi.
The Anderson Tapes (Sidney Lumet, 1971) 6.5/10 - Le film commence sur un faux rythme, puis s'accélère avec le début du casse proprement dit. Il pourrait être sous-titré "chronique d'un ratage". Fin implacable, début un peu poussif.

Del Toro est bien parti pour occuper à nouveau le haut de mon top mensuel.

Avec L'échine du diable que j'ai beaucoup aimé. Mais la grosse surprise vint de Crimson Peak.

Surprise parce que même si j'espérais que ça me plaise, et pensais que ça avait sur le papier tout pour être le cas, tous les retours de mes proches étaient au mieux mitigés, donc j'avais tempéré mes espérances.
Et finalement gros gros coup de coeur, film magnifique, avec effectivement tout ce que j'aime.

Après Keeper, deuxième grande réussite de cet excellent réalisateur ; et le fait de savoir que tous les dialogues ont été improvisés me le rend encore plus étonnant tellement le rendu est totalement crédible.

Il fait partie de ces films que j'ai supportés longtemps dans leur version dvd non-anamorphique mais que je pourrais maintenant guetter en HD, parce qu'il faut bien passer à autre chose..
Film très agréable, très anglais, très soigné question reconstitution (le grand fort des anglais).
