(January 28, 2008) – Sony Pictures Home Entertainment releases the two-time Oscar®-winning* adventure drama A Passage to India as a collector’s edition DVD and Blu-ray Disc™ on March 15, 2008 for the SRP of $24.96 (DVD) and $28.95 (BD). Releasing in time to celebrate director David Lean’s centenary, A Passage to India stars Peggy Ashcroft (TV’s “The Jewel in the Crown”Wink in the Oscar-winning lead role, Golden Globe® winner Judy Davis (Marie Antoinette), Victor Banerjee (It Was Raining That Night, Bhoot) and Oscar® winner Alec Guinness (Lawrence of Arabia). Directed by the legendary David Lean (Doctor Zhivago, Lawrence of Arabia) and based on E.M. Forster’s classic novel, this moving drama brings into focus the hidden racism that lurks behind tourists and locals alike. Synopsis: A Passage to India

Adela Quested (Davis) journeys to India with Mrs. Moore (Ashcroft), her future mother-in-law, to visit her husband who is a magistrate in a small town. The young Englishwoman is warned by the British community not to mingle with the natives and to keep them at arm’s length. However, her desire to experience the “real” India urges her to seek out Dr. Aziz H. Ahmed (Banerjee), a young local doctor who is proficient in English and had been raised in a British household. Dr. Ahmed accompanies the two women on a tour of the well-known caverns in the area. However, something happens in the dark cave passageways that has Adela crying foul play. Dr. Ahmed is brought before the British courts, which are itching to deliver a guilty sentence and make him an example for all other “rebellious” natives. The young Indian battles the English system, which deems all defendants “guilty until proven innocent,” and becomes caught up in a case that threatens all civility in the region and examines the validity of memory under pressure and insinuation.

Depuis que SONY a repris en main le catalogue MGM, terminée la fête du slip!

Du moins on espère, car il y a beaaaaaucoup à faire.

C'est Fox qui distribue les titres MGM depuis le 2e semestre 2006 environ.

En tout cas, je vois que Sony a repris ici un titre MGM et lui donne le traitement mérité, que Fox a fait un sacré boulot avec les James Bond, donc je me dis qu'on risque d'avoir de belles surprises dans ce catalogue qui a de belles choses qui étaient exploitées par des gougnafiers.

En fait non, je sais plus qui l'a fait remarquer, mais ce titre a toujours été édité par Columbia chez les ricains. C'est chez nous que MGM a les droits.

Erreur tout de meme, bien que distribué par Fox, les titres appartenaient a Sony lorsque l'important travail de numerisation et restauration a été fait, donc vous remarquerez, du moins sur le zone 1, que le logo de Fox n'apparait que sur les boitiers et les disques, a partir du moment que l'on arrive sur le contenu numerique du disque, aucune indication que la Fox a participé a ce travail fantastique, mais pourtant on voit du Sony partout... lol...

Pour une fois, je dois dire que Sony a fait un super travail.

C'est officiellement le 31 mai 2006 que la distribution vidéo des titres MGM est passée des mains de Sony à Fox. Mais en pratique, dans les mois suivants, quelques titres déjà prêts ont quand même été distribués dans des habillages Sony (cas de Certains l'aiment chaud Collector's Edition), puis dans des habillages Fox, mais avec des spécifications ressemblant étrangement à celles habituellement appliquées aux DVD Sony/Columbia (présence de STF en Z1 notamment, cas de Un poisson nommé Wanda Collector's Edition ou des "James Bond" Ultimate Editions).

Le cas de La route des Indes est différent, puisque ce titre a toujours appartenu à Columbia sur le sol américain.

Grosse surprise !!
Voila un titre que j'allais acheté en DVD car je me disais qu'il était pas pret de sortir en HD.....

Je crois qu'il faut définitivement que j'arrête d'acheter des DVDs, faire un break pendant 1 an, et me lancer dans le HD en 2009.

Je suis surpris par le format 1.66, il me semble que mon dvd zone 2 MGM était 1.77 ou 1.85.
